History & Presentation of Style2ouf

Style2ouf is above all a human and community adventure born from the passion for hip hop and the need to create a real link between all the actors of this culture. Created by Jérôme Gaspard, alias KeMp, at the end of the 90s, the site quickly went beyond the simple personal framework to become THE French reference in hip hop dance, and in particular breakdance.

The beginnings

Originally launched in 1997 as a personal page dedicated to the sporting exploits of its founder (stuntman by profession), Style2ouf arrived at a time when the Internet was still almost virgin in terms of hip hop. At that time, only two sites dealt with hip hop dance in France and barely fifteen on an international scale!
Year after year, the site attracted more and more visitors and enriched its content to meet a growing demand for information, while even the specialized hip hop press talked very little about dance.

A mission of sharing and openness

From the start, Style2ouf set itself the objective of filling the lack of information on hip hop dance, making news, interviews, videos, reports and announcements accessible to as many people as possible on all styles (Break, Popping, Locking, etc.).
The site aims to be an indispensable relay between dancers, organizers, fans and all curious people, while remaining impartial and open to the diversity of the scene.

From personal page to community portal

In 2000, a new stage was reached: the site adopted the domain name style2ouf.com and was enriched with a real video and editorial team. It quickly offered multilingual content (French/English), removed any "personal" dimension to focus on news and the promotion of hip hop culture in its entirety.
The design and structure of the site evolved to tend towards ever more professionalism, making navigation simpler and content even more accessible.

Birth of the association

The success of the site logically led, in 2002, to the creation of the Style2ouf association. This aims to promote hip hop culture in all its forms, essentially through:

A committed and recognized actor

Style2ouf is regularly a partner or supporter of the biggest events: Juste Debout, Battle of the Year France, Pro AM France, Battle Pro, Total Session, and many others… up to international level, with I.B.E in Holland, BOTY International in Germany or R16 in South Korea.
The site is also involved in promoting more underground battles in Paris (Châtelet, La Défense, Gare de Lyon…) and gives voice to emerging artists as well as established figures of the movement.

The S2O team

The Style2ouf team is above all a core of passionate people who propelled the site towards excellence: Erick Nguyen, Thary Wary ("TharX"), Sylvain ("Syl20") and Antoine Schirer ("Tony") united their talents to create videos, interviews and content that became cult in the bboying world.
Their commitment allowed the site to offer unprecedented visibility to dancers, crews and events, while strengthening the community spirit.
Other members, like Jack, Boo, Tomson... also enriched this human adventure, each bringing their stone to the building, and contributing to making Style2ouf an essential actor on the French scene.

Rich and living content

Interviews, reports, photo galleries, event videos, trailers, background files, classified ads… Style2ouf is a real information media but also a place of exchange.
Its forum, long the most active in the field, allowed thousands of dancers to exchange, meet, organize events and advance the entire French scene.

Today

Style2ouf remains in memories as the French-speaking community portal for hip hop dance, symbol of an era of sharing, creativity and spirit of openness.
Behind this adventure, there is the will of Jérôme Gaspard (KeMp) and an entire generation of scene actors, who managed to bring hip hop culture from "underground" to a visibility never reached before.

Style2ouf is the "positive" spirit of the street, the link between artists, the public and the passion for hip hop, always alive, always innovating.
